Noemi Black x HEARTBEAT London Interview
Here at Heartbeat London we had amazing few months working closely with DJ Noemi Black on her collection’s designs. She is a truly warm and positive person who has an explicit passion for DJing and techno music, but we will let her speak for herself!
HBL: When did you start DJing - and what or who first attracted you into music?
NB: I started Djing in 2012. Since I was a child, I was interested in electronic music. I was listening to it on Tapes or on the radio. I didn't know which of the genres is my favourite. After my first-time taking part in the Polish edition of "Mayday" festival, I was totally in love with Techno. From this moment I knew that I want to become Techno DJ
HBL: What influences or inspires you when you are creating a specific set? What is your creative process like? And what do you usually start with when preparing for a set?
NB: I love heavy, industrial sounds, so I'm searching for tracks like that in my Library, in online shops like Beatport, or I choose from the promo tracks I get by email. I'm always trying to slowly build the tension. I'm trying to invite the listener into my Techno world step by step, from nice groovy beats into the real Hard Techno. The listener must feel the vibe, they have to wait for the next Track with impatience.
HBL: What is the most useless talent you have?
NB: Hahah - that's a good question. I can run very fast but it’s really useless right now.
HBL: If you can have your fans remember one thing about you, what would it be?
NB: It would be my music, of course, but also the kind of person that I am.
HBL: What does it mean to you to have a chance to release a personalized jewellery line in collaboration with Heartbeat London?
NB: I am very happy about this collaboration. Like every woman, I simply love jewellery, and Heartbeat London gives me the opportunity to connect my love to music with youthful dreams about becoming a designer. Our music jewellery is simply gorgeous and I am sure that many music fans will fall in love with it.
HBL: Do you have any questions for us?
NB: How did you come up with the idea of producing music jewellery?
HBL:I have been designing jewellery since I was little – I love crafting beautiful pieces. Somehow music has been around me as well for all my life. My dad is very passionate audiophile, I was singing in the band or choir since I was little and now my boyfriend is a DJ/music producer too. Around 9 years ago, I got together with a friend in Poland who shared the same passions, and we launched a music jewellery brand. Later I decided to move and live in London. I brought HEARTBEAT with me and established it here as HEARTBEAT London. The London market opened endless possibilities for me. I am so thrilled by a new venture of the brand and collaborations with musicians from around the world. It's like a dream come true and I hope it will never end.
NB: What kind of music do you listen to?
HBL: Currently deep house and progressive/ tribal house. I have a taste for a good indie music as well. My boyfriend got me into house and TechHouse world and I'm enjoying it a lot.
